Oakland Baptist Church is seeking a Music Ministry Associate to join our vibrant and collaborative ministry team. This part-time position is ideal for a gifted musician with a heart for worship and a passion for supporting the spiritual life of the church through music.

Position Summary:

The Music Ministry Associate plays an integral role in planning and executing the music-related activities and programs of Oakland Baptist Church. This position requires a blend of musical excellence, administrative ability, and spiritual leadership, all working together to enrich the worship experience of our congregation. The Associate serves under the guidance of the Associate Minister for Music and Administration and works closely with other ministry leaders to support the mission of Oakland Baptist Church. In all areas—professional and personal—the Music Ministry Associate is expected to model Christ-like character.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Music for Worship (Weekly, Seasonal, Special Services):

• Serve as the primary accompanist for congregational singing, liturgical music, and choral presentations.

• Provide reflective musical offerings (prelude, offertory, postlude, etc.) to enhance the worship experience.

2. Music Ministry Programming (Rehearsals and Ensembles):

• Accompany weekly rehearsals and special services as scheduled with the Associate Minister.

• Give leadership to the church’s Hand Bell Ensembles.

• Collaborate in the planning and preparation of music ministry programming.

3. Community Collaboration and Advocacy:

• Support and coordinate with community groups utilizing church facilities.

• Help manage use of musical instruments and rehearsal spaces.

• Advocate for engagement and musical growth within and beyond the church community.

4. Instrument Maintenance:

• Work with church staff to ensure the care and upkeep of the church’s musical instruments.

• Coordinate regular maintenance and necessary repairs.

Who You Are:

• A skilled pianist/organist/accompanist with experience in church music.

• Comfortable working with choirs, ensembles, and hand bell groups.

• Passionate about worship, collaboration, and spiritual formation through music.

• A proactive communicator and thoughtful team player.

• Committed to Christ-like service and leadership.
