We do our best to remove barriers that prevent persons from participating in the life of our church. A welcoming process is in place to assist new comers to Bible study classes and worship on Sunday mornings. Greeters are stationed at all of our church entrances to meet you and assist you in locating appropriate classes for your family. We provide many pieces of information which explain the mission and programs of our church to help guests get a "feel" for Oakland. Please feel free to call us regarding any questions about our church. We extend a warm greeting to you and trust you will find a relaxed and friendly atmosphere which will help you worship and study with us. We are sensitive to the needs of families, and therefore, provide a nursery for all church activities. A nursery is staffed for all Sunday evening and Wednesday evening activities (including adult Chancel Choir practice). We make provisions for children of all ages during our Sunday morning Bible study program. During the Sunday morning worship hour we provide extended session for infants through three-year-olds and Children's Church for four and five-year-olds. A nursery is provided for all special events in the life of the church as well. Our entire church facility has been completely renovated and our nursery is attractive, clean, and equipped with modern equipment. Your and your child(ren) will appreciate a refreshing, friendly, and caring environment where a Christian foundation is seriously nurtured for the needs of young children. Efforts have been made to strengthen our ministry to children and their families. Each family receives a Preschool Policies Handbook that contains information about how we care for children. A tagging system (name and number on child and corresponding tag given to parents) provides security for children who are in our care. We also provide a paging system for each family so that we can notify parents who are in our building, if their assistance is needed. We trust that these measures will help church members and guests know that caring for children is an extremely important part of our ministry at Oakland.
